At one-time videotape was the standard method of saving and playing back video. It revolutionized “home movies.” Besides being bulky and a little inconvenient to play back, the big drawback has always been that videotapes just don’t last.
Many of fond family memories or exclusive footage has been lost to videotape malfunction.
The good news is that many times the video can be retrieved! The most frequent problem is a broken or bound up tape. Other problems can be a tape stuck in a machine, broken shell or stuck reels. The video is still there it just can’t be played back.
VMI has assisted many people in getting their precious videotapes to either play or saving the video to a digital format.
