VMI was established in Nashville, Tennessee in 1987 sharing an office on famed Music Row with movie star Jim Varney “You know what I mean – Vern?” Quickly focusing on music video production, VMI’s first music video was an experimental Western icebreaker “Hard Road” by Billy Ray Reynolds, shortly followed by “Murdered By Love” by a.k.a. PooBah.
In the early 90’s VMI added film production capabilities and then non-linear digital video editing. Productions expanded from music videos to full feature productions for corporations, broadcast and cable networks.
VMI’s most recent major additions are The Little Cabin of Dreams recording studio, Mobile Won remote production rig, and The Spirit of Dixie shooting location.
